Application

Birch O-PC C0104 is an organic photocatalyst developed in the Miyake lab for the photocatalytic Birch reduction driven by visible light. The hallmark high excited state redox potential of this first of its kind catalyst class reduces benzene and other arenes to produce functionally useful 1,4-cyclohexadienes. This organic photocatalyst accesses both classical and non-classical Birch reduction reactivity in addition to demonstrating hydrodechlorination of aromatics. Employing mild benchtop conditions, this photocatalytic approach eliminates challenges associated with traditional Birch reduction such as the use of alkali metals in liquid ammonia.

Product can be used with our line of photoreactors: Including Penn PhD (Z744035) & SynLED 2.0 (Z744080)
