General description

A stable-labeled internal standard for testosterone testing or isotope dilution methods by GC/MS or LC/MS for sports testing, urine drug testing or diagnostic testing by LC-MS/MS or GC/MS. Testosterone, a hormone from the androgen group, is an important sex hormone and anabolic steroid used as a performance enhancing drug.

Application

  • First detection/quantification of roxadustat in hair with a new liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry method: This study highlights the advanced LC-MS/MS methodologies that can be adapted for the detection and quantification of deuterated compounds like Testosterone-d₃ in biological samples, providing precision in pharmacokinetic studies (Alvarez et al., 2023).

  • A quantitative method for the simultaneous detection of SR9009 and SR9011 in equine plasma: Demonstrates the application of liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization-tandem mass spectrometry, a technique that can be used for accurately measuring stable isotope-labeled compounds such as Testosterone-d₃ in complex matrices (Kwak et al., 2022).

  • Collision energy-breakdown curves - An additional tool to characterize MS/MS methods: Discusses the optimization of mass spectrometry parameters which can enhance the detection of deuterated drugs like Testosterone-d₃, crucial for detailed metabolic studies (Mörlein et al., 2020).

  • Detection and quantification of 12 anabolic steroids and analogs in human whole blood and 20 in hair using LC-HRMS/MS: Explores high-resolution mass spectrometry for detecting substances in biological samples, relevant for the precise analysis of Testosterone-d₃ in doping control and clinical research (Fabresse et al., 2017).

  • Determination of anabolic agents in dietary supplements by liquid chromatography-high-resolution mass spectrometry: Focuses on the reliable identification of performance-enhancing drugs, which can include the application of Testosterone-d₃ as an internal standard to ensure accuracy and traceability in analytical testing (Odoardi et al., 2015).

LC-MS/MS is a powerful tool that brings numerous benefits to the clinical sample analysis arena. However, due to the complexity of the instrumentation there are some unique challenges that also accompany these benefits. Even following sample extraction and cleanup, matrix effects from the samples can cause interferences or impact ionization efficiency.

Our team of scientists has experience in all areas of research including Life Science, Material Science, Chemical Synthesis, Chromatography, Analytical and many others.
