General description
Histosec™ 60 pastilles (without DMSO) - solidification point 58-60°C, are a ready-to-use embedding agent for histology used to embed specimens of animal origin. Histosec™ 60 pastilles (without DMSO) are a paraffin enriched with polymers that, for the protection of the user, contains no DMSO (dimethyl sulfoxide). The addition of polymers prevents sprinkling, air-filled slits between the paraffin crystals that can adversely affect the sectioning procedure. Thin sections can then be reliably prepared from the paraffin-embedded specimens (blocks) for further processing. Paraffin is a traditional embedding media for histology. Fixed and dehydrated specimens are embedded and blocked with paraffin with an appropriate solidification point. In order to achieve uniformous ribbon-sectioning quality, defined hardness and homogeneity of the processed material is necessary. This can be guaranteed through high-quality raw materials and defined melting points. The melting point of Paraffin is 56-58°C. For more details, please see instructions for use (IFU). The IFU can be downloaded from this webpage.
