General description

Native creatine phosphokinase from rabbit muscle. Catalyzes the conversion of creatine and ATP to creatine phosphate and ADP. Has an optimal pH of 9.0 for the forward reaction and 6.0-7.0 for the reverse reaction.
Native creatine phosphokinase from rabbit muscle. Catalyzes the reversible conversion of creatine and ATP to creatine phosphate and ADP. Has an optimal pH of 9.0 for the forward reaction and 6.0-7.0 for the reverse reaction.

Unit Definition

One unit is defined as the amount of enzyme that will catalyze the conversion of 1.0 µmol creatine phosphate per min at 25°C or 37°C, pH 6.8.

Reconstitution

Following reconstitution in 0.5% NaHCO₃, refrigerate (4°C). Do not freeze or shake, as SH groups may be oxidized and form linkages between protein molecules, resulting in precipitation, turbidity, and loss of activity. NaHCO₃ stock solutions are stable for 2-3 days at 4°C. Following reconstitution in 0.1 M imidazole buffer, aliquot and freeze (-20°C). Imidazole stock solutions are stable for up to 4 weeks at -20°C. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles, as 20-30% of activity will be lost with each freeze/thaw cycle.
