  • Macromolecular Stabilization: Span® 85 is used as a stabilizer for the preparation of PMMA colloidal particles in nonpolar media, proving effective in maintaining stability under various conditions, crucial for industrial applications in coatings and advanced materials manufacturing (Liu et al., 2022).

  • Enhanced Nanoemulsion Systems: It plays a critical role in the formation of aerosolized nanoemulsion systems encapsulating docetaxel and curcumin, utilized in cancer therapy to improve therapeutic outcomes through enhanced drug delivery mechanisms (Abdul Rahman et al., 2020).

  • Skin Protection Formulations: Span® 85 is integral in the formulation and clinical assessment of microemulsion-based hydrogels for UV protection, demonstrating its utility in skincare products by enhancing sun protection factor and skin compatibility (Ebrahimi et al., 2019).

  • Transdermal Drug Delivery: This surfactant is utilized in tailoring novel soft nano-vesicles, known as ′Flexosomes′, to enhance transdermal drug delivery, which is pivotal for non-invasive therapeutic applications and improving patient compliance (Mansour et al., 2019).
