Gene Information

human ... LPIN1(23175)

General description

Lipin-1 is also called Phosphatidate phosphatase LPIN1. Lipin-1 controls the metabolism of fatty acids, acts as a magnesium-dependent phosphatidate phosphatase enzyme, as well as a nuclear transcriptional coactivator that modulates lipid metabolism gene expression. Lipin-1 involved in adipocyte differentiation, and is also potentially involved in mitochondrial fission. Lipin-1 is specifically expressed in skeletal muscle, and is also abundant in adipose tissue. Lipin-1 defects can cause autosomal recessive acute recurrent myoglobinuria (ARARM).

Immunogen

linear peptide corresponding to human Lipin-1.

Application

Anti-Lipin-1 Antibody is an antibody against Lipin-1 for use in IHC, western blotting & IP.
Immunohistochemistry Analysis: A 1:50 dilution from a representative lot detected Lipin-1 in human cardiac myocytes and human skeletal muscle myocytes tissue.
Western Blotting Analysis: A representative lot detected Lipin-1 in mouse adipose tissue lysate (Mayurranjan, S., et al. (2013). PNAS. 110(2):642-647).
Immunoprecipitation Analysis: A representative lot immunoprecipitated Lipin-1 in adipose tissue lysate (Mayurranjan, S., et al. (2013). PNAS. 110(2):642-647).

Quality

Evaluated by Western Blotting in mouse hepatocytes overexpressing lipin1 cell lysate.

Western Blotting Analysis: 1.0 µg/mL of this antibody detected Lipin-1 in 10 µg of mouse hepatocytes overexpressing lipin1 cell lysate (lysate from the laboratory of Brian Finck, Washington University, St. Louis).

Target description

Physical form

Affinity purified
Purified rabbit polyclonal in buffer containing PBS with 0.05% sodium azide with 50% glycerol.

Storage and Stability

Stable for 1 year at -20°C from date of receipt.
Handling Recommendations: Upon receipt and prior to removing the cap, centrifuge the vial and gently mix the solution. Aliquot into microcentrifuge tubes and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, which may damage IgG and affect product performance.
Note: Variability in freezer temperatures below -20°C may cause glycerol containing solutions to become frozen during storage.

Other Notes

Concentration: Please refer to the Certificate of Analysis for the lot-specific concentration.
