General description

ANBL-6 is a well-established model for MM.3 In culture ANBL-6 cell proliferation is dependent on IL-6, a critical component of the bone marrow microenvironment supporting tumor growth.2 Transcriptomic analysis of ANBL-6 cells demonstrated a high correlation with genetic signatures of primary MM tumors.2 ANBL-6 cells home to hematopoietic tissues in a mouse model, with a growth phenotype characteristic of smoldering (indolent) rather than an aggressive form of MM.2 Although derived from peripheral blood, ANBL-6 recapitulates many of the phenotypes associated with primary plasma cell tumors in the bone marrow. ANBL-6 is a highly representative cellular model of multiple myeloma.

Application

  • Each vial contains >1X106 viable cells.
  • Cells are tested negative for infectious diseases by a Human Essential CLEAR panel by Charles River Animal Diagnostic Services.
  • Cells are verified to be of human origin and negative for inter-species contamination from mouse, rat, chinese hamster, Golden Syrian hamster, and Non-human Primate (NHP) as assessed by a Contamination Clear panel by Charles River Animal Diagnostic Services
  • Cells are negative for mycoplasma contamination.
Multiple myeloma (MM) is a cancer of the plasma cells originating in bone marrow. Although a rare cancer, there is no cure and only 54% of patients diagnosed with MM survive beyond 5 years.1 The vast majority of MM cases are known as smoldering or asymptomatic MM, wherein a small population of aberrant plasma cells resides in the bone marrow.2 Most MM cell line models are not derived from originating tissue but rather peripheral blood, raising questions of how closely these lines reflect the characteristics of the disease in the originating hematopoietic environment.2 SourceThe ANBL-6 cell line was isolated from peripheral blood of a 67-year old female patient with myeloma.3References1. Features and Benefits

ANBL-6 is a highly representative cellular model of multiple myeloma.

Storage and Stability

ANBL-6 Human Plasma Cell Myeloma Cell Line should be stored in liquid nitrogen until use. The cells can be cultured for at least 10 passages after initial thawing without significantly affecting the cell marker expression and functionality.
