General description

Cetrimonium bromide(CTAB) is a quaternary ammonium derivative known to enhance anti-tumor activity. It is one of the components of the broad-spectrum antiseptic cetrimide and may also be used as a buffer for DNA extraction.
This substance is listed on the positive list of the EU regulation 10/2011 for plastics intended to come into contact with food. Find all available reference materials for compounds listed in 10/2011 here

Application

CTAB may be used as a reference standard for the determination of:
  • CTAB in various water samples by combining a dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (DLLME) technique with high performance liquid chromatography.
  • CTAB in pharmaceutical formulations by reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP- HPLC).
