Calcium pantothenate, the calcium salt of pantothenic acid, is a coenzyme A component that plays an important role in the metabolism of proteins, fats and carbohydrates. It is employed in vitamin supplements for the treatment of acne, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, etc.

Application

Calcium pantothenate may be used as an EP reference standard for the determination of the analyte in pharmaceutical formulations by various chromatography and spectrophotometric techniques.
Precursor in the biosynthesis of coenzyme A.

Packaging

The product is delivered as supplied by the issuing Pharmacopoeia. For the current unit quantity, please visit the EDQM reference substance catalogue.

Physical properties

Due to the unstable, hygroscopic nature of the free acid, the calcium salt is employed.
