Gene Information

human ... MYCN(4613)

General description

MyCN is a basic helix-loop-helix protein that has been implicated neuroblastomas. Studies have linked childhood neuroblastomas with MyCN amplifications to caspase 8 supression.
Rabbit Anti-MyCN antibody recognizes rat, canine, mouse, and human MyCN.

Immunogen

Synthetic peptide directed towards the C terminal region of human MYCN

Application

Rabbit Anti-MyCN antibody can be used for western blot applications at a concentration of 2.5μg/ml.

Biochem/physiol Actions

MYCN is a member of the MYC family and encodes a protein with a basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) domain. It is located in the nucleus and must dimerize with another bHLH protein in order to bind DNA. Amplification of this gene is associated with a variety of tumors, most notably neuroblastomas

Sequence

Synthetic peptide located within the following region: EDAPPQKKIKSEASPRPLKSVIPPKAKSLSPRNSDSEDSERRRNHNILER

Physical form

Purified antibody supplied in 1x PBS buffer with 0.09% (w/v) sodium azide and 2% sucrose.

Caspase 8 is a cysteine protease regulated in both a death-receptor-dependent and -independent manner during apoptosis. Here, we report that the gene for caspase 8 is frequently inactivated in neuroblastoma, a childhood tumor of the peripheral nervous system. The gene
