Cell Line Origin

Hamster Chinese ovary

Cell Line Description

A subclone of the parental CHO cell line originated by Puck in 1957. The cells have an absolute requirement for L-proline.

Application

CHO Cell Line from Chinese hamster ovary has been used:
  • to generate CHO cells expressing LY6/PLAUR domain containing 3 (LYPD3)
  • to carry out the vaginolysin (VLY) cytolytic activity assay
  • as host cells to produce glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor (GLP1R)
Nutritional and gene expression studies

Culture Medium

Ham′s F12 + 2mM Glutamine + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).

Subculture Routine

Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:3 to 1:10 i.e. seeding at 1-3x10,000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37°C.
