Human Caucasian lung small cell carcinoma

Cell Line Description

This cell line has been established from the pleural fluid of a 55 year old Caucasian male with small cell carcinoma of the lung prior to treatment. Inoculated into athymic mice, the cells form tumours with a typical histology of the original biopsy specimen. Elevated levels of the biomarkers L-dopa decarboxylase, bombesin-like immunoreactivity, neuron-specific enolase and brain isozyme of creatine kinase were reported. Cells grow as spherical floating aggregates.
