Cell Line Description

C2-Rev 7 is a revertant of the C2 variants, selected by virtue of its capacity to grow in glucose free medium (containing dialysed serum) where survival requires activity of the liver-specific gluconeogenic pathway. Expression of the entire set of liver specific functions is restored. Albumin and hepatocyte markers present.

Application

Gene expression studies.

Culture Medium

Coon′s modified Ham′s F12 (or Kaign′s modified Ham′s F12 + 45mg/L ascorbic acid + 18mg/L Inositol) + 2mM Glutamine + 5% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).

Subculture Routine

Split semi-confluent cultures (70%) 1:10 i.e. seeding at 9x1000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37°C. Saturation density is reached at 15x1,000,000 cells/10cm2 dish.
