General description

Dynein is a multimeric motor protein which transports membrane-bound vesicles, proteins and organelles towards the negative end of microtubules (retrograde transport). It has a crucial role in cytoplasmic motility, chromosomal movement and the organization of the Golgi apparatus. Monoclonal anti-dynein (Intermediate Chain) antibody can be used for localization of dynein intermediate chain using different immunochemical assays like ELISA, immunoblotting and dot blot. Mouse anti- dynein (Intermediate Chain) antibody reacts specifically with dynein of frog, hamster (CHO cell line), chicken, rat, marsupial (rat kangaroo, PtK1 cell line), Indian muntjac (Muntiacus muntjac vaginalis) and human (HeLa,MCF-7).
Monoclonal anti-Dynein (Intermediate Chain) (mouse IgM isotype) is derived from the 70.1 hybridoma1 produced by the fusion of mouse myeloma cells and splenocytes from BALB/c mice immunized with cytoplasmic dynein purified from chick brain. In all cell types, dynein has the same basic structures and is composed of two or three distinct heavy chains (approximately 450 kDa), three intermediate chains (70- 125 kDa), and at least four light chains (15-25 kDa). Dynein intermediate chain (ICs) is a component of dynein multisubunit. Dynein intermediate chain interacts with dynactin through its N-terminal region.
