General description

IgG subtype is the most abundant serum immunoglobulins of the immune system. It is secreted by B cells and is found in blood and extracellular fluids. Mouse IgG is a plasma B cell derived antibody isotype defined by its heavy chain. IgG is the most abundant antibody isotype found in mouse serum. Fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC) is a fluorescein derivative (fluorochrome) used to tag antibodies, including secondary antibodies, for use in fluorescence-based assays and procedures. FITC excites at 495 nm and emits at 521 nm.

Specificity

Goat polyclonal anti-Mouse IgG (Fc specific)–FITC antibody detects all mouse IgG subclasses, it shows no reactivity with mouse IgG Fab fragment or human IgG. Identity and purity of the antibody is established by immunoelectrophoresis, prior to conjugation. Electrophoresis of the antibody preparation followed by diffusion against anti-goat IgG and anti-goat whole serum result in single arcs of precipitation. Goat anti-Mouse IgG is conjugated to FITC and then purified by gel filtration to remove free FITC.

Immunogen

Purified mouse IgG Fc fragment

Application

Anti-Mouse IgG (Fc specific)-FITC antibody has be used for
  • Immunofluorescence
  • Immunohistochemistry
  • Immunostaining
  • Confocal microscopy
  • Flow cytometry

Biochem/physiol Actions

IgG antibody provides protection from infections caused by bacteria, fungi and viruses. Maternal IgG is transferred to fetus through the placenta that is vital for immune defence of the neonate against infections IgG is a complement activator and binds to the Fc-receptors on phagocytic cells. The level of IgG may vary with the status of disease or infection.
Anti-Mouse IgG (Fc specific)-FITC antibody is specific for Fc fragment of all mouse IgG subclasses. It shows no reactivity with mouse IgG Fab fragment or human IgG. Goat anti-Mouse IgG is conjugated to FITC and then purified by gel filtration to remove free FITC.

Other Notes

Antibody adsorbed with human IgG.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.

Preparation Note

Adsorbed to reduce background with human samples.
