Specificity

Strong reactivity with normal goat serum has been determined by immunoelectrophoresis (IEP). This antiserum has not been assayed for interspecies crossreactivity.

Application

Anti-Goat Serum antibody produced in rabbit has been used in immunochemistry.
Anti-Goat Serum antibody produced in rabbit was used as control in protein characterization of serum albumin using Ouchterlony gel diffusion method.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Serum antibodies have their significance in the innate and adaptive immune responses. They are closely associated with immune system related pathogenesis.

Physical form

Rabbit Anti-Goat Serum is provided as a liquid containing 0.1% sodium azide as a preservative.

Storage and Stability

For continuous use, store at 2-8 °C for up to one month. For extended storage, the solution may be frozen in working aliquots. Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. Intra-articular injection of radiolabelled, commercial goat serum albumin (GSA) produces acute arthritis in caprine joints. This inflammation distorts clearance values and vitiates studies of normal lymphatic function. Endotoxin, routinely found in commercial albumin preparations, appears to cause this local reaction.
