General description
Glutathione S-transferase (GST) is a vital enzyme involved in detoxification, aiding in the removal of harmful substances from cells. It plays a key role in metabolizing a wide range of compounds, including drugs, toxins, and carcinogens, and contributes to cellular processes such as signaling and inflammation regulation. Monitoring GST levels is crucial for several reasons: it serves as a biomarker for cellular stress, indicating damage from toxins or oxidative stress; it aids in diagnosing and managing various diseases, including cancer and liver diseases; it informs pharmacological studies by assessing drug efficacy and toxicity; and it facilitates environmental monitoring, identifying pollution and potential health risks. Overall, monitoring GST levels provides valuable insights into cellular health, disease status, drug metabolism, and environmental exposure, guiding early detection and management of health conditions.
Application
The Glutathione S-transferase Assay Kit may be used for:
- Cancer Research
- Oxidative Stress Research
- Metabolism Research
Features and Benefits
- Efficient and Precise: Requires only 20 μL of sample and a quick 10-minute reaction time while detecting Glutathione S-transferase levels within a range of 2 to 80 U/L, offering convenience and sensitivity.
- Compatibility with High-Throughput Systems: Easily integrate our kit into high-throughput handling systems, ensuring smooth operation and accurate results, enhancing efficiency in your laboratory processes.
Suitability
The kit is suitable for Glutathione S-transferase activity determination in cell lysates, tissues, etc.
Principle
The Glutathione S-transferase Assay Kit is based on the GST enzyme reaction between GSH and the GST substrate, CDNB (1- chloro-2,4-dinitrobenzene). The GST catalyzed formation of GS-DNB produces a dinitrophenyl thioether which can be detected spectrophotometrically at A340 nm. The rate of increase in absorbance at A340 nm is directly proportional to the GST activity in the sample.
