General description

The Phospho-EGFR (pTyr1068) ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is a very rapid, convenient and sensitive assay kit that can monitor the activation or function of important biological pathways in cell lysates.

Immunogen

EGFR (pTyr1068) synthetic phosphopeptide, Recombinant Human EGFR

Application

For research use only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.
Please refer to the attached General ELISA KIT Procedure (sandwich, competitive & Indirect ELISA)

Biochem/physiol Actions

EGFR (epidermal growth factor receptor) functions as a receptor for EGF-family of proteins, which are peptide growth factors. This receptor-ligand system is also involved in the pathogenesis and progression of various types of carcinomas. In cancer, EGFR pathways promotes cellular proliferation, angiogenesis, metastasis and apoptosis. The microRNA miR-218-5p interacts with and controls EGFR, and in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), the levels of EGFR are inversely related to miR-218-5p. miR-218-5p inhibits proliferation and migration of lung cancer cells by binding with EGFR, and thus, has potential in future NSCLC therapies. Phospho-EGFR activates phospho-Akt pathway in invasive bladder cancer (BC) and it can be considered as a promising therapeutic target for cancer.
