Biochem/physiol Actions
Oxidized low-density lipoprotein receptor 1 (OLR1), also referred as Lectin-like oxidized low-density lipoprotein receptor-1 (LOX-1), acts as a scavenger receptor for oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL). It is essential for formation and progression of atherosclerotic plaques. Therefore, mutation in the gene increases the risk of susceptibility to atherosclerotic-related diseases. In addition, genetic variation in the gene leads to myocardial infarction. Serum concentration of OLR1 serves as an efficient biomarker of intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH).

Adipose tissue produces adiponectin, an anti-inflammatory protein. High systemic total adiponectin is associated with a low risk for incident asthma but the association with lung adiponectin is not known. Our objective was to evaluate the association between sputum total adiponectin
