Gene Information

human ... CLEC4C(170482)

General description

C-type lectin domain family 4 member C (CLEC4C) is also known as blood dendritic cell antigen 2. It is expressed on plasmacytoid dendritic cells. CLEC4C is a type II transmembrane protein belonging to the C-type lectin (CTLs) superfamily. The protein consists of an extracellular carbohydrate recognition domain (CRD), a transmembrane region and a short cytoplasmic domain. The gene encoding CLEC4C is localized on human chromosome 12.

Immunogen

Peptide with sequence QSWTKSQKNCSV, from the Internal region of the protein sequence according to NP_569708.1; NP_987099.1.

Biochem/physiol Actions

C-type lectin domain family 4 member C (CLEC4C) is involved in intracellular signal transduction through the transmembrane adaptor, FcεRγ. It inhibits the secretion of soluble TNF-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL). CLEC4C may have a role in ligand internalization.
