General description

Tet Repressor (TETR) is homodimer comprising a C-terminal helix-turn-helix motif (HTH) and N-terminal DNA-binding domain,. It also has a C-terminal tetracycline-binding and dimerization (TBD) domain.

Immunogen

Anti-Tet Repressor (TETR) reacts with amino acid residues 31-49 (AQKLGVEQPTLYWHVKNKR) of 22 kDa Tet repressor protein

Application

Anti-Tet Repressor (TETR) antibody produced in rabbit has been used in western blotting.

Biochem/physiol Actions

The Tet system is employed in conditional gene expression studies in eukaryotic cells. TetR ( can be used for such applications in some organisms without further modifications. In mammals and in a large variety of other organisms, however, eukaryotic transcriptional activator or repressor domains are fused to TetR to turn it into an efficient regulator. TetR interaction with antibiotic tetracyclin decreases its binding affinity to DNA.

Physical form

Solution of 1 mg/mL in phosphate buffered saline containing 0.02% sodium azide.
