General description

Decorin (DCN) protein is encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 12q21.33. DCN is an extracellular matrix protein with leucine-rich repeats. The protein belongs to the small leucine-rich proteoglycan (SLRP) gene family.

Immunogen

DCN (AAH05322, 1 a.a. ~ 359 a.a) full-length recombinant protein with GST tag. MW of the GST tag alone is 26 KDa.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Decorin (DCN) acts as a structural and signaling molecule and is involved in extracellular matrix assembly. It is implicated in the regulation of fibrogenesis and inflammation. DCN exhibits antimetastatic and antiangiogenic activities by inducing cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. It is used as a marker to detect the prognosis of various types of cancers such as breast, bladder, and lung cancer. Mutation in the DCN gene is associated with the development of posterior amorphous corneal dystrophy (PACD).
