General description

Estriol is found to be a major estrogen in pregnant women. It originates in the placenta from the estrogen precursors, made by the fetal adrenal gland and liver. Estriol levels are directly related to the delivery of the fetus and serve as an index of the fetal well-being.

Application

Estriol may be used as a pharmaceutical primary standard for the quantification of the analyte in pharmaceutical formulations using chromatography techniques.
