Coronavirus qPCR & Related Products to Support SARS-CoV-2 Research
ARTIC Primer Pool v4.0 and v4.1 for SARS-CoV-2 WGS
WGS (whole-genome sequencing) has been widely used to study the evolution of SARS-Cov-2 and the emergence of variants that may affect transmission of the virus. A fast, reliable, and accurate method for sequencing of SARS-CoV-2 has been developed by the ARTIC Network of researchers and optimized to achieve full-sequence coverage of the viral genome1,2,3. The ARTIC Primer Pool v4.0 and v4.1 are now available as a custom oligo pool. The primer pool enables targeted PCR-based enrichment of the SARS-CoV-2 genome.
Validation Data
The primer pools have been validated by Joshua Quick of the University of Birmingham.

2019-nCoV Assays for Detection of SARS-CoV-2
US-2019-nCoV and EUR-2019-nCoV Kits and Individual Assays are for qPCR (5′ nuclease assay) detection of SARS-CoV-2. These products are primer and probe pools, the sequences of which were designed and made publicly available by the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (US-2019-nCoV) and Charité Institute of Virology – Universitätsmedizin Berlin (EUR-2019-nCoV).
All products have been extensively tested and found to perform well with Thermo Fisher Scientific’s TaqPath™ 1-Step RT-qPCR Master Mix and our own Quantitative RT-PCR ReadyMix (QR0200) (see figure for example data).
Example US-2019-nCoV data: N2 Individual Assay compared against that of a competing product. The N2 individual assay was functionally validated against ATCC SARS-CoV-2 reference material and found to be template free up to 45 cycles. The assay is sensitive with a limit of detection of 1 to 10 copies. Comparison was completed with QR0200 ReadyMix with the reverse transcription at 44 °C for 30 min. Custom Primers & Probes
We offer probes labeled with either Onyx Quencher (OQ) or Block All Quencher (BXQ). To request a quote for custom primers and probes, please email us.
Single-Stranded RNA Positive Controls
Custom
The SARS-CoV-2 virus has a positive-sense ssRNA genome. We offer in vitro transcribed ssRNA against regions of this genome, which can serve as positive controls. We can synthesize custom sequences from 150 to 420 nucleotides (to ensure successful manufacturing, please avoid sequences with inverted repeats and repetitions). For Research Use Only. Not for Use In Diagnostic Procedures.

Proficiency Testing
In support of quality assurance efforts, the SARS-CoV-2 proficiency testing kit is designed for use with assays like real-time RT-PCR which detect the viral RNA by nucleic acid amplification. Reports provide evaluation of qualitative results as well as quantitative properties such as Cq(Ct) values and efficiencies.
RNA Interference
Our MISSION® esiRNA COVID-19 panel (51 genes with 2 controls) provides RNAi researchers with a proven, cost-effective, and simple way to perform post-transcriptional silencing of putative genes involved in the intracellular life cycle of SARS-CoV-2. Included in the panel are genes that were found to be involved with the infection caused by other coronaviruses, such as SARS-CoV and MERS. This panel is available as a customizable esiFLEX 96-well array at quantities up to 5.0 μg, which is sufficient for screening common human cell lines.
Included with the panels is the following:
- Positive control: Human Eg5 (KIF11) to ensure transfection & experimental set up optimization
- Negative control: RLUC to distinguish sequence-specific silencing from non–specific effects
