Application

S-phenyl methanethioate is an effective CO releasing molecule (CORM) developed by the lab of Sarah Tasker as part of a series of thioformate based CORMs called thioCORMates. p-NO2 phenyl thioformate generates CO over the course of several minutes to allow for on-demand generation of CO for variety of reactions.

This and the other thioCORMates are cost effective CORMs that when activated with simple amines, can be used to generate a near quantitative amount of CO safely without the usage of gas cylinders. These are compatible with a variety of carbonylation reactions, as well as existing COware glassware and components.
