General description

Vacuolar protein sorting 4 homolog B (Vps4B) is a member of the AAA protein family (ATPases associated with diverse cellular activities) and is a homolog of yeast Vps4 protein. In humans, two of yeast protein paralogs have been identified as Vps4A and Vps4B. Both share high degree of amino acid sequence. The gene for Vps4B resides on human chromosome 18.

Application

Anti-VPS4B antibody produced in rabbit has been used in immunoblotting and immunoprecipitation.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Vacuolar protein sorting 4 (Vps4) mediates endosomal membrane protein sorting, retroviral budding, and cytokinesis by recognizing membrane-associated endosomal sorting complexes required for transport (ESCRT-III) assemblies and catalysing their disassembly.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.
